International Competition Regulations
The 8TH Parvin Etesami International Film Festival will take place from September 13th to 19th, 2014. The festival, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, is organized by the Iranian Supporting House for Artist Women (established in 2004).
Paying tribute to Iranian great poetess and teacher, Parvin Etesami (1907-41), PEIFF is a festival focusing on films depicting the decisive roles of women in family and society today, especially the films made by women directors.
1. Entry requirements
May compete films completed after 2009.
Any type of film (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental) can be submitted to the selection committee.
Accepted screening formats: Blu-ray and DVD.
Films of 40 minutes or less are eligible.
Films already submitted to previous editions are not accepted, even in a new version.
Industrial or commercial films are not accepted.
2. Preview screener
The previewing DVDs must be sent to the international affairs office of the festival.
3. Entry procedure and selection
Participants must enter their films via the online submission website.
The following material must be sent to the e-mail of the festival:
- 4 stills from the film (either color or black and white depending on the film – no poster, no pictures of film set or crew), which can be used in any publication;
- 1 photo of the director(s);
- 1 English translation of list/transcript of the dialogue;
- Shipment details of the screener sent via an international courier.
Festival deadlines:
- August 1st, 2014
List of the selected films will be available on the Festival's website from September 1st, 2014. Any films selected to participate in the festival may not be excluded from the program after official announcement.
4. Shipping of festival screening copies of selected films
Blu-ray or DVD versions of selected films must be sent to the Festival office preferably by EMS (TNT, DHL, …) for reception no later than August 25th, 2014 at the latest. The festival shall not return any Blu-rays / DVDs to the submitting persons / companies.
5. Publication authorization
All the texts, data and photos sent by participants to e-mail of the festival will be used for reference in various online and offline bilingual publications. This material may be translated, corrected or edited prior to publication.
6. Awards
The following awards will be designated by a jury comprising a President and a minimum of 2 personalities.
- Best Fiction Film - First Prize (the director receives cash prize and Golden Lotus trophy).
- Best Fiction Film - Second Prize (the director receives cash prize and Golden Lotus trophy).
- Best Fiction Film - Third Prize (the director receives cash prize and Golden Lotus trophy).
- Best Animated, Experimental or Documentary Film Prize (the director receives cash prize and Golden Lotus trophy).
- Special Jury Prize (the director receives cash prize and Golden Lotus trophy).
7. Iranian productions
These regulations are not applied to Iranian productions, which are subject to specific regulations (see National Competition regulations).
